NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde

Healthcare Support Worker (HCSW) Pre-Employment Training Programme

NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde is looking to recruit trainees to join our healthcare support worker sector based work academy programme.  This 5 week training programme is open to people living within our catchment area who are not currently in employment or in education and interested in working as a Healthcare Support worker.

Healthcare Support Workers are valued members of our Nursing Family who work in our hospital and community based teams delivering hands on care and support to our patients. We are looking for people with a genuine interest in training for this role to join our Training Programme with selection events throughout July and programme start dates in August and September.  There is no requirement for previous experience or specific qualifications.  We are looking for “people people” with good communication skills, a caring outlook and a genuine interest in working in healthcare.

The programme is made up of two weeks of classroom based training delivered by NHS GGC specialists followed by a three week work placement.  The classroom based training provides key knowledge and skills to prepare trainees for the placement and the placement offers a chance for hands-on experience in the role.  By the end of the programme trainees will have had the benefit of training in key areas and have a chance to test out if the role of healthcare support worker is for them.

Successful completion of this programme guarantees that you will be interviewed for suitable Healthcare Support Worker vacancies across our NHS GGC and the opportunity to be enrolled on Nursing and Midwifery Bank as a HCSW.

If you would like to learn more about this programme please speak to your DWP Work Coach or contact one of our employability partners (see list below) for more information and to apply.  Successful applicants will be required to be registered with DWP and/or one of our partner organisations.
