Carbost General Practice

Salaried GP in Rural Practice – Isle of Skye

2x Part Time, Permanent Positions – 25 hours per week

£83,666 - £94,311 Pro Rata Per Annum

What's so special about a job at Carbost Medical Practice?

Just the fabulous friendly team, the supportive community & the outstanding scenery!

Join our GP team in one of the most beautiful and popular locations in the Highlands of Scotland. Based in Carbost, Isle of Skye, the Carbost Medical Practice is a dispensing practice covering approximately 650 patients who are scattered across a wide geographical area. Although based in a rural location, we have unparalleled support from the local hospital in Broadford just 25 miles away but ideally, request experience in skills such as pre-hospital care, (BASICS) ALS, PLS and palliative care. There is no Out of Hours commitment with this post.

Our team consists of two part time salaried GPs, two experienced part time  Dispenser/Receptionists, one part time Health Care Assistant/Receptionist, one part time Practice Manager (who also covers the South Skye Practice). The Practice is also supported by an excellent community nursing team, a Community Pharmacist, Direct Access Physiotherapist and the wider healthcare team.

There is a wider team across the island of community nurses, nurse specialists, hospital practitioners and midwives, just to name a few. You don't have to do any out of hours (unless you want to)  and with approx. 650 patients you get to know them all and have continuity of care . Better still are the 15-30 min appointments, available on the day appointments, options for telephone consultations, and a huge breadth of medicine.

Carbost is a very safe place to live and has a vibrant community . There is a shop, post office, primary school and pub, as well as the doctor's surgery . You have amazing scenery on your doorstep , lots of outdoor activities and opportunities , or you can just chill and enjoy a calm and relaxed lifestyle. You could join in with the mountain rescue team, or learn the Gaelic language. It’s a great place to bring up a family or to spend time on your own . The job is flexible - make it your own!

These posts are 25 hours per week, you may be looking for flexible ways to achieve your work/ lifestyle balance and we are open to discussions if this post interests you.

Becoming part of this friendly and co-operative team will offer you work in a stunning location and embrace the unique challenges and opportunities presented by rural practice.
