The Role

The ADP support team in North Lanarkshire provides support to a multi-agency network focussed on offering a range of interventions to people adversely affected by alcohol and drugs.  The post holder will be part of a multi-disciplinary team who offer support to services who work with people who are adversely affected by alcohol and/or drug use.

The post holders will provide outreach support to individuals identified by the multi-disciplinary team. They will encourage engagement by providing interventions as well as linkages into treatment and support of third sector organisations in North Lanarkshire.

What we'll need you to bring

  • SVQ in Health/Social Care or working towards, or equivalent experience working in a health or social care role/voluntary role/or have personal/lived experience of adversity caused by substance use.
  • Have a working/living knowledge and understanding of the consequences and impact of adverse substance use (physical, social, environmental)
  • Undertake full management of aggression training with up-dates.
  • Ability to work with people and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to carry out assigned tasks effectively in a busy environment.
  • Ability to undertake training that will support them in use of computers and locally used data gathering tools.
  • Ability to work unsupervised.


It would be great if you also have

  • Peer research training, Naloxone training ​​​​​​, Motivational interviewing training

  • Experience of applying co-production principles and practices

    Experience of carrying out peer research

  • Knowledge of the ADP priorities, drug and alcohol policy and MAT standard

  • Knowledge of the rights based approach

  • Current driving licence​​​​​​​

This role will be based within Coathill Hospital, Coatbridge. 

The working pattern for this role will be Monday - Friday.
