Band 7 Occupational Therapist Borders Addiction Service
Full time –other working patterns including part time or job share will be considered.
This is a new and exciting opportunity to join the Borders Addiction Service and help shape the future of the service.
An expert in Addiction, you will have extensive experience of working in addiction services and strong leadership skills.
Your role will require you to interface with third sector, mental health, acute and potentially primary care services, forming effective partnerships and informing the occupational aspects of the recovery process including the development of pathways and shared care protocols.
You will be the ‘go to person’ in regard to Occupational Therapy treatment advice for people with addictions whichever service they are in and will develop and deliver training to ensure that support agencies, other professionals and other occupational therapists are aware of best practice and can implement treatment plans informed by your expertise. Providing supervision and support to staff delivering your treatment plans.
You will work holistically with people with complex needs including people with Alcohol Related Brain Injury or other co-morbidities and have a clear sense of the impact of Occupational Deprivation and the importance of improving occupational performance and achieving occupational balance to support recovery.
Your practice will be trauma informed and in line with best practice including Scottish Government, NICE, SIGN and professional standards and will be key in the delivery of the Scottish Government’s Medication Assisted Treatment Standards .
You will be actively supported to develop your leadership skills and will have an opportunity should you wish to complete non-medical prescribing (NMP) training if you are the successful applicant.
You will receive clinical supervision from the Mental Health Lead Occupational Therapist and will be encouraged to join National Networks in relation to addiction. You will be HCPC registered and preferably a member of your professional body.
