Post: clinical Research fellow in critical care

The post is aligned with the Clinical Research Facility (CRF) and is based within the intensive Care and High Dependency Unit at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital and will be primarily concerned with the conduct of clinical trials active within the units. They will work closely with designated Chief and Principal investigators to undertake the various activities involved in recruitment, consent, investigation, pharmacovigilence and follow-up of patients within the breadth and range of clinical trials.
The post is best suited for trainees who have completed basic core training. As part of the intensive care Clinical research Facility team they will attend the weekly team meeting. They will provide medical support to the clinical research nurses working within the CRF for high profile clinical trials. They may be required to work with patients who are suspected or proven to have COVID 19.
The clinical component is based in Critical Care at the QEUH including out of hours. Although desirable, it is not necessary to have experience in Critical Care.
The intensive care CRF clinical research fellow(s) will be required to successfully complete training in consent and Good Clinical Practice to ensure that the rights, safety and well-being of patients and the high quality of the research data is maintained within the CRF. Full funding of these courses will be provided through the CRF. The intensive care CRF clinical research fellow(s) will be required to attend a CRF induction programme, and comply with formal supervisory and assessment processes in regard to both their clinical and research activities. Supervision will be jointly between the CRF Director and the Clinical Lead for intensive care. The post will provide the opportunity for the successful applicant to develop expertise in all aspects of delivering clinical research and working to protocol, an understanding of pharmacovigilence and research governance
