An exciting opportunity has arisen for enthusiastic experienced medical nurse to join the established and progressive nursing teams within Glasgow Royal Infirmary, voted the best hospital in Scotland and 1 of the 200 best facilities within the world.
Approximately 350 patients per day pass through the A& E department incorporating diverse attendances/admissions from trauma to specialist support of critical care, cardiac, medical, surgical, orthopaedic, gynaecology, urology, burns/plastics and paediatric patients.
North Glasgow Hospitals supply University training for Nursing, Medicine and Dentistry. It provides regional services for Burns/ plastics; Upper GI; Certain medical specialities and surgical procedures.
Nursing is a strong visible directive in assuring care and setting standards with the patient at the centre of their care pathway. Nurses are invited who wish to develop and work within a forward thinking nursing environment.
Nursing development is encouraged and supported by the Nursing team and Practice educators. Availability to study SQA modules up to level 9 as well as funding exists towards University courses, conferences and personal development based learning. Areas that are recruiting are:
Ward 9 Gastro-Enterology
This ward is a dynamic 19 bedded male medical area specialising in patient with acute GI diseases. It also admits general medical patients.
The successful candidate will be the key figure in patient care delivery with ensuring all care and policies are adhered by the whole Multi-disciplinary team with specialised medical teams including pharmacy teams, community liaisons and dietitians.
As a Senior Charge nurse you will be responsible in leading a team and developing nursing interventions in this field learning and working with experts in advanced nurse specialist and allied professions to optimise this patient group’s journey and improve quality of life with patients with chronic disease alongside acute general medical care.
We are seeking motivated individuals who strive to progress the development of nursing pathways within the medical departments. This will include the supporting and contribution towards establishing good communications within the wider allied partners to support staff development and meet service demands.
We require visionary clinical experts who can lead in the provision of Holistic patient centred care. The ability to engage teams to meet service delivery is key in the Rheumatology department.
Successful candidates require evidence of continual development, IT skills, good communication skills and enthusiasm for working within Gastroenterology.
As a key member in these fast paced areas you will require a “can do” approach. Skill sets should include experience within clinical teaching, mentorship and experience in Quality control measures e.g. CAS and Falls management and prevention.

It is essential that you are currently a Registered Nurse with the NMC with relevant post qualification experience. A genuine interest and clinical knowledge of acute medicine is essential. Relevant management experience is required as you will need to demonstrate leadership ability within a team. The shift pattern for this post is at present is days only 37.5 hours usually Monday to Friday
