The Knowledge Services Librarians will provide high quality library services to support staff in NHS Lanarkshire.  They have responsibility for daily management of libraries within their allotted areas including the day to day management of library site teams. This will include ensuring strategic outcomes are achieved with seamless working across services.


KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED TO DO THE JOB Essential

Educated to a degree level or equivalent in librarianship and information studies or first degree and postgraduate diploma.

Chartered membership of the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals (CILIP)

Experience at a professional level with highly developed skills in a range of specialist areas such as advanced literature searching and knowledge organisation

Good understanding of current legislation on copyright, freedom of information, information governance and other relevant legislation

A sound understanding of the NHS in Scotland, how it is structured and organised, the current key policy context and drivers and organisational constraints. 

Wide knowledge of IT, database management, health databases and the internet

Experience in training and developments in electronic delivery of information sources and in the use of new electronic information products.

Experience of implementing tools and methodologies of evaluation and/or quality improvement and/or performance assessment would be an advantage.

Excellent organisational skills including effective work planning for self and others and effective compliance with all organisational processes such as finance and audit Experience in line-managing a team of staff.

Project management experience

Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills both small and large groups

Experience of creating, delivering and evaluating a variety of user training targeted at user and organisation needs

Experience of working effectively on own, leading a team, and as part of a team
