The post: 

This is an exciting opportunity to work in Practitioner and Counter Fraud Services (a Strategic Business Unit (SBU) of NHS National Services Scotland) and to help improve the health and wellbeing of the people of Scotland.

Practitioner and Counter Fraud Services is a division of NHS National Services Scotland and processes claims and issues payments to all Primary Care Contractors in Scotland on behalf of NHS Boards; General Medical Practitioners, General Dental Practitioners, General Ophthalmic Practitioners and Community Pharmacists.  On behalf of the National Health Service in Scotland, Practitioner Services administer contracts worth over £2.3 billion.

The candidate:

We currently have a vacancy within the Customer Services Team for a Customer Service Help Desk Advisor. 

The Team, which includes 3 Customer Services Officers, provides comprehensive and professional customer helpdesk support to Dental Contractors, Ophthalmic contractors, NHS Boards, Dental or Ophthalmic related professionals and IT suppliers. This involves providing advice and support on a wide range of issues, including General Dental Services, Public Dental Services, Orthodontics, Dental Prior Approval and all aspects of General Ophthalmic Services.

The post-holder will be educated to HND level and should have proven experience of working in a customer services environment. The successful candidate will be an excellent, confident communicator and have the ability to clearly define and explain problems and issues. Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills are required. The post-holder will be required to work both as part of a team and on their own, and must display the ability to show initiative and prioritise work. An excellent customer focus is essential along with the ability to handle challenging customers. Knowledge of other Practitioner Services functions is advantageous. 

Location and working pattern:

Gyle Square, 1 South Gyle Crescent, Edinburgh.
Monday to Friday – 37.5 hours per week.
