Specialist Clinical Pharmacist
Older People’s Service
Greater Glasgow and Clyde
Glasgow Royal Infirmary
An exciting opportunity has arisen to appoint a specialist clinical pharmacist within the Older People’s Service at Glasgow Royal Infirmary.
You will work as part of the multidisciplinary team to provide pharmaceutical care to patients within this specialty, including stroke patients. The pharmacist is a valued member of the MDT within the Older People’s Service and the management of frailty, including the development of integrated care pathways, is a high priority within the health board. The team has recently started proving a once weekly specialist session by an Independent Prescriber in the rehabilitation wards within Stobhill Hospital as part of a service development project and there is the potential to develop pharmacist input to clinics.
The post holder will also contribute to the delivery of care to patients within the medical receiving unit, including hyper acute stroke beds.
Glasgow Royal Infirmary is committed to the development of the pharmacy workforce in line with Moving Pharmacy Forward A Strategic Framework 2021-2026 and in addition to undertaking personal professional development the post holder will be expected to provide support to experiential learning students, trainee pharmacists and post-registration foundation pharmacists.
Good communication skills and a broad based clinical knowledge are essential.
You will have a minimum of two years experience, have completed the Scottish Hospital Pharmacists Foundation Level training or have equivalent experience and be committed to continuing professional development. Completion of a relevant masters qualification/advanced practice framework and independent prescribing qualification would be encouraged.
You will be required to participate in on-call, weekend and public holiday services.
