NHS Ayrshire and Arran is delighted to be able to offer an exciting opportunity to apply for a postgraduate diploma course, studied over 24 months with an additional three months’ probationary period served in clinical practice to conclude training. 

Once course has been successfully completed candidates would be offered a permanent post within NHS Ayrshire and Arran and would be expected to remain in post for at least 3 years post training. 
Access to training is available for:
•    Registered healthcare professionals, for example nurses or operating department practitioners, with substantial experience.
or
•    Biological/biomedical science graduates with a 2:1 (hons) degree or higher. 
You will be based at University Hospital Ayr (UHA) gaining experience from day one. Throughout your training you will work through a variety of competency modules, signed off by educational supervisors and sit two national exams.  The training is hosted by Birmingham University and the academic component is distance learning. Anaesthesia Associate Postgraduate Diploma - Postgraduate degree programme study - Institute of Clinical Sciences - University of Birmingham


To maximise clinical exposure to additional surgical specialties some training may be arranged at the other NHSA&A site, University Hospital Crosshouse.  
This post is offered under Annex 21 pay arrangements.  Successful candidates will be paid 70% of the pay band in year one and 75% of the pay band at year two.
