Job Advert
This post represents a rare and exciting opportunity for the right person to apply their highly specialist knowledge and assessment and treatment planning skills across a range of inpatient and community caseloads with a particular focus on neurological conditions. As part of the Argyll and Bute Health and Social Care Partnership, this exciting career opportunity offers the right candidate the chance to help develop and deliver services within a range of pioneering and nationally recognised projects.
Although we are a small team in Oban, we have big ideas and with support from a team and professional lead, the right candidate will be able to continue developing and delivering our range of award winning and nationally recognised projects. The service we have developed with Lorn and Oban Healthy Options (LOHO) has already won one national award for innovative, person centred care (QuDos in MS) and the Oban Living Well Initiative was a finalist at the Scottish Health awards in 2019.
The National advisor on ageing and health described the project as ‘taking what we know in theory and putting it into practice. It is what we need to replicate across Scotland. As a national advisor I was delighted to present the Oban work at an international event (the IHI Patient Safety Conference) and the response from the audience was incredible and a bit overwhelming’
The role will allow the right candidate to retain a mainly clinical role delivering a wide range of inpatient and community services whilst also focussing on the ongoing drive and delivery of some of our truly unique projects and collaborations. To succeed in this exciting and challenging post you will have a degree or equivalent qualification as a physiotherapist, be HCPC registered and demonstrate extensive evidence of postgraduate learning to a masters level or equivalent in a neurology related field. You will have significant experience and understanding of inpatient and community services including leadership and service change and development, you will be aware of regional and national strategy around neurological rehabilitation and have well honed communication and negotiation skills.
Perhaps most importantly you will need the ability to see and seize opportunities to deliver truly outstanding physiotherapy services, particularly for those with neurological conditions – innovators are very welcome to apply. In return we can offer a remuneration package at Band 7 along with the chance to develop and deliver one of the most progressive and collaborative services in one of the most stunning locations within the UK.
Oban sits on the West Coast of Scotland, an area of outstanding natural beauty yet close to cosmopolitan cities such as Glasgow and Edinburgh. Known as the gateway to the Islands, Oban offers a dream lifestyle particularly in these unusual times; Argyll has over 3,500km of stunning coastline and is home to many inhabited and uninhabited islands. The opportunities to enjoy a healthy outdoor lifestyle in the Oban area are almost endless and our family orientated communities and excellent schools offer a great place to bring up children.
