Are you an experienced Speech and Language Therapist with the drive and enthusiasm to lead the Children and Young People’s (CYP) Speech and Language Therapy (SLT) Service in Dumfries and Galloway?
The role of Team lead is a new post within the service’s management structure which creates an exciting opportunity to lead a skilled and established staff team of 16 Speech and Language Therapists and 5 Health Care Support Workers, while developing the role and scope of the Team Lead post. The CYP SLT team covers a diverse caseload of speech, language and communication needs, Paediatric Dysphagia and Neurodevelopmental assessment for children and young people from birth to 18 across Dumfries and Galloway while also promoting universal support and access to targeted services. You will bring to the team, proven leadership and management skills with a secure understanding of delivering services aligned to National guidelines, policies and legislation within the context of NHS Scotland and locally within NHS Dumfries and Galloway. The post will allow for a small and highly specialist clinical remit, in line with the post holders areas of expertise ensuring clinical skills are maintained while allowing the post holder to deliver on the Team lead role.

CYP AHPs in Dumfries and Galloway are fortunate to be part of the Woman, Children and Sexual Health Directorate with a main base for services at the Willows, Children and Family Centre in modernised building with fantastic facilities shared by your CYP AHP colleagues in Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy and Dietetics as well as health colleagues including Health Visiting, Midwifery, School Nursing, Paediatrics, Children’s Nursing, CAMHS and the LAC Team. Set in the beautiful grounds of the Crichton, The Willows will be the main base of the Team Lead and will give you access to easy parking, green spaces and lovely lunch time walks while being only 5 minutes from Dumfries Town Centre, 10 minutes from the Train Station and within 2 hours of Edinburgh, Glasgow, Stranraer and the Lake District. As the Team Lead you will also work directly with the locality teams who are based in Health Centres in Lockerbie, Castle Douglas and Newton Stewart.
Due to the geography of Dumfries and Galloway, access to your own transport is therefore essential.
While 1.0WTE is available for the successful candidate, applications from staff looking for 0.8WTE upwards are welcomed.
