Edinburgh/Glasgow (hybrid office/home working may be required)
An exciting opportunity has opened up for an experienced, enthusiastic and positive individual to join Scottish Medicine Consortium’s (SMC) Public Involvement Team, which is part of Healthcare Improvement Scotland’s Evidence Directorate. SMC aims to improve healthcare through health technology assessment (HTA) of new medicines, with the provision of advice to Health Boards on their clinical and cost-effective use, as well as horizon scanning to support financial planning for new medicines.
The key part of the Public Involvement Advisor role is engaging effectively internally with colleagues and externally with voluntary organisations, patient groups, and people and communities with an interest in access to new medicines, building sustainable relationships that will motivate, promote and support inclusive engagement consistently across our work.
The successful candidate will be expected to:
- Provide in-depth guidance and support to voluntary organisations and encourage their participation in the HTA process for new medicines which are relevant to the patients and carers they represent.
- Provide development and support for our public partner volunteers.
- Actively participate in the Innovative Licensing and Access Pathway (ILAP) as a partner, developing patient and public involvement.
The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate relevant experience of partnership working with the voluntary sector and expert knowledge of engagement. Excellent communication skills, including well-developed oral and written skills are essential.
For further information about this opportunity, or for an informal chat about the key requirements for the role, please contact Jennifer Dickson, SMC Public Involvement Co-ordinator at jennifer.dickson3@nhs.scot
Closing date: Tuesday 31 May 2022 at midnight
