Advanced Healthcare Scientist (BMS 2) Compliance Officer
As a major Strategic Business Unit (SBU) within NHS National Services Scotland, the Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service (SNBTS) plays a vital role not only in the health of the people of Scotland but also on an international scale – through our leading position in manufacturing, product development, biomedical research and donor services. The core purpose of the SNBTS is to meet the transfusion needs of patients in Scotland.
Our Blood Transfusion laboratory has full UKAS accreditation and IBMS/HCPC training status. The laboratory provides a 24/7 blood transfusion service to the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary; one of Scotland’s major trauma centres, and the Royal Hospital for Children and Young People as well as a number of small rural hospitals. In addition, the laboratory also operates a regional transfusion reference investigations and antenatal screening service.
An exciting and challenging opportunity has arisen within Patient Services in Edinburgh for a Compliance Officer position. This is a full time position, 37.5 hours/week.
Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced candidates to help in supporting the regional transfusion laboratory service. Applicants must have attained an Honours Degree in Biomedical Science or equivalent, acceptable to the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and have retained registration with that body. The successful candidate must have a relevant postgraduate qualification or equivalent competence/experience. A willingness to learn is essential. We are looking for an organised, enthusiastic individual with excellent interpersonal skills and attention to detail.
The successful candidate will be required to undergo a Disclosure check. Any candidate who has worked overseas for more than 3 months will also be required to provide a criminal record check from the appropriate overseas agency.
