We are looking for an experienced, compassionate, enthusiastic and motivated Speech and Language Therapist to join the Adult Learning Disability Speech and Language therapy team in Lanarkshire. If you have a genuine interest in learning disabilities and want to support individuals with a learning disability to maximise their communication and eating and drinking skills, then this job is for you.

The ALD SLT team is part of a wider multi-disciplinary team containing nurses, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, dietitians, psychologists and psychiatrists supporting adults with learning disabilities across all of Lanarkshire. The ALD SLT team also have close connections with the wider SLT services across Lanarkshire.

Our service is Pan-Lanarkshire and based at Kirklands Hospital in Bothwell. We offer a robust induction programme, professional supervision, a supportive and encouraging team structure with admin support, and opportunities to develop your knowledge and skills.

We provide patient-centred care to adults with learning disabilities in community settings as well as inpatient and forensic settings including The State Hospital at Carstairs.

Lanarkshire is the third largest Health Board area in Scotland and stretches across the Central Belt of Scotland within easy commuting distance of Glasgow, Edinburgh and Stirling. It occupies the valley of the River Clyde which is the stronghold of many garden centres. There are also lovely country walks with beautiful sights as well as historical locations and parks such as Summerlee: Museum of Scottish Industrial Life, New Lanark UNESCO world heritage site and, Strathclyde Country Park.
