An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly an individual to join the multidisciplinary Surgical Acute Frailty Team (SAFT) based within the surgical floor in Ninewells Hospital.

Recently published literature has highlighted the importance of frailty recognition due to its association with increased mortality, increased post-operative complications and increased length of hospital stay. In response to this as well as the increasing age and frailty of surgical admissions, the Surgical Acute Frailty Team has now been established for over two years and continues to make great headway in assisting in the older surgical patients’ journey.

As part of the multidisciplinary team the above post holder will have responsibility of completing a Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment and ensuring that relevant care needs are being delivered.

You will be a registered nurse, with a Masters Degree level of qualification (or able to work towards) including a relevant module in clinical examination. You must have a positive attitude to change and committed to a high standard of person centred care. Experience at band 5 level in medicine for the elderly along with some previous surgical exposure would be highly advantageous.

Applicants must have excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrate the ability to work well with minimal direction and supervision. The applicant would be expected to be already working in a manner in keeping with the principles of person centeredness and supporting the delivery of safe and effective care. You will work collaboratively within SAFT to improve effectiveness, efficiency of care delivery and measuring these standards. This post offers a unique and exciting opportunity to influence and develop ongoing practice in older adult care needs.

You must be registered on the Sub part 1 : RN1 or sub part 2: RN2 of the NMC register and be able to demonstrate evidence of continuous professional development relevant to this post.
