This is a full-time permanent post, however part time hours would be considered.
The post holder is responsible for the provision of specialist infant feeding advice and lactation management across maternity services, providing advice and expert clinical support particularly in the more complex and complicated cases.
The post holder will provide mentorship and training for colleagues working with breastfeeding mothers and babies, This is accomplished within a framework of systematic problem solving in a supportive, learning and proactive culture and in collaboration with other members of the health care team and clients.
To be responsible for the provision of the highest quality of infant feeding advice in accordance with the philosophy and policies outlined by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) and the Acute Division and effectively manage the service within the span of the post-holder’s control.
To support the maintenance and sustainability of the UNICEF UK Baby Friendly accreditation.
Implement, deliver and evaluate GG&C Infant Feeding training for Midwives, Health Visitors and Maternity Care Assistants ensuring it complies with UNICEF Baby Friendly accreditation and reflects the goals in GG&C Health Board.
To support staff to work in line with all policies and guidelines in relation to infant feeding and lactation management that is in line with current evidence and best practice standards.
The post holder delivers a high quality service, providing clinical intervention to clients in a range of locations including hospitals, health centre’s and patient homes.
If working in the community setting.
The post holder must be a registered midwife.
