Post holder will be a Registered Nurse and is required for West Dunbartonshire Community Children’s Nursing Team. As a Community Children’s Nurse you will provide nursing care within a variety of community settings, mainly Kilpatrick School for children with additional support needs.
As a Community Children’s Nurse within the school you will provide training for education staff e.g. administration of medicines, care of nasogastric tube, gastrostomy tubes/feeding, epilepsy/seizure training, tracheostomy tube changes/management, stoma care and asthma management.
You will provide advice and co-ordination of care for children and young people. You will work collaboratively with other inter-agency professionals, providing support to education staff in the event of an emergency or where the treatment required is outside the competency of the individual.
You will carry out Nurse Led Assessments and undertake sleep clinics within the school.
First level registration with Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) Registration is essential. You must be educated to degree level or have equivalent experience. You must provide evidence of post registration study, education, training and/or post-graduation qualification in relevant areas of practice (children and young people within paediatric nursing or a related specialty).
