We are currently recruiting to a number of permanent Band 5 Registered Nurse Posts to join our Clyde sector nursing teams.

Located in the West of Scotland, near Glasgow, the Clyde sector has an annual budget of around £198m with c.3,240 staff and is recognised as a substantial part of NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde’s Acute services. Our Clyde Acute sector has 1,416 inpatient beds and approximately 64, 200 inpatient cases, 34,000 day cases and 120, 000 ED attendances annually.

Serving a large urban and rural catchment area across Renfrewshire, Inverclyde and West Dunbartonshire, including parts of Argyll and Bute, our Clyde acute hospitals are recognised as being at the heart of the community. We are investing in the future by creating sustainable clinical services and work is already underway to develop and implement the models of care from our Moving Forward Together Strategy. We continue to steer the Clyde sector through the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, ensuring services continue to respond to the increased demands of a changing population

The Opportunities

We are now looking to recruit motivated and enthusiastic AfC Band 5 Registered Adult Nurses to join our specialist nursing teams, working in Older People and Stroke services based at the Royal Alexandra Hospital.

The Royal Alexandra Hospital is 968 bedded Acute Hospital situated in Paisley and provides an extensive range of acute health services. The town of Paisley is situated less than 10 miles to the West of Glasgow.

Inpatient Older People and Stroke Services for the Clyde Acute Sector are delivered from the Royal Alexandra Hospital, Inverclyde Royal Hospital and the Vale of Leven Hospital with services for:

  • Movement Disorders (patients of all ages)
  • Acute Stroke Unit (patients of all ages)
  • Orthopaedic Rehabilitation
  • Older Adults Assessment Unit
  • ED & GP admissions for fast, focused assessment & care decisions
  • Assessment and Rehabilitation
  • Palliative care
  • Complex care needs
  • Continuing Care Services

We are seeking candidates who demonstrate a flexible attitude and will be inspired to deliver a high standard of evidence-based person centred care. Good communication and organisational skills are essential, as is the ability to assess, plan, implement and evaluate care for your  patients. You should demonstrate an ability to work on your own initiative but most importantly you must have the ability to to communicate with the Inter professional team to enhance the patient experience.  

In return, we can offer the right development and support by the multi-disciplinary team, clinical practice educators and a strong education ethos.  Reporting to and working closely with the Senior Charge Nurse you should also be able to work on your own initiative, supported by the wider nursing team. In addition you will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, to enable effective communication with the inter professional team, other agencies, and families involved in supporting care delivery. We are seeking candidates who can provide evidence demonstrating compassionate and caring behavior to fulfill the key functions of the inpatient ward.  The shift pattern for this post consists of a combination of dayshift and nightshift over 7 days. Applications are also welcome from candidates seeking part time hours as there may be an opportunity to accommodate less than full time hours.

To apply you will required to meet the essential criteria:

  • You should be a registered Adult Nurse with a current NMC registration
  • Be of good health and character and comply with NMC revalidation processes.  
  • Experience of prioritising workload and working in a dynamic and fast paced clinical working environment
  • Good communication skills, (written and verbal) and dealing with sensitive issues relating to clinical practice
  • Awareness of General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and its application within a clinical patient setting.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Student nurses in the final stages of their undergraduate course are eligible to apply and may be employed as a band 2 until the can provide an NMC PIN
