Job Advert
Could you work as part of a multi-disciplinary team committed to improving the health of Children and Young People across Tayside?
Due to the internal promotion of the current post holder, we are looking for an experienced Dietitian to join the Paediatric Nutrition and Dietetic Service in NHS Tayside. This would ideally suit an experienced Band 6 Paediatric Dietitian or an experienced Band 5 Dietitian with relevant clinical experience. Experience and post graduate training in paediatric dietetics is desirable but applicants with appropriate transferrable skills will be considered.
The Paediatric Dietetic Team is a dynamic, proactive team consisting of 6.2 WTE dietitians and 0.73 WTE support workers. The team provides specialist nutrition and dietetic advice and clinical support to:
- In-patients: Paediatric Wards and Neonatal Unit within Ninewells Hospital
- Outpatients – Paediatric Assessment Unit, Dietetic and Multi-disciplinary Clinics, Community clinics and domiciliary visits
- Multidisciplinary teams - gastroenterology, oncology, cardiology, ketogenic, metabolic cystic fibrosis, complex allergy, diabetes, renal and complex needs.
This Band 6 role currently provides a service to the Gastroenterology and Complex Needs Multidisciplinary Teams in both the inpatient and outpatient settings. However, the clinical areas the new post holder will cover can be flexible and will be dependent on the successful candidate’s experience and demands of the service. There will be opportunity for the post holder to develop and expand their knowledge and experience in a variety of paediatric specialities, take a pro-active approach in the clinical care of children, service improvement and pathway development.
The post holder should be able to evidence excellent interpersonal, communication and facilitation skills, as well as having a passion for working with children, young people and their parents and carers. You must be able to work on your own as well as working closely with medical, nursing, AHP and other healthcare staff and dietetic colleagues to deliver integrated nutritional care.
There is a strong commitment to the delivery of evidence based practice and CPD, with close links and joint training initiatives with other dietetic colleagues in Tayside. Active involvement in student clinical placements and participation in the work of the Tayside Nutrition Network are other aspects of the post. Our service is committed to personal and professional development and has good IT and A&C support.
Hours of work are: 37.5 per week
