The successful applicant would join a friendly team of Biomedical Scientists The department has a number of highly specialised areas including the Scottish Trace Element and Micronutrient Diagnostic and Research Laboratory (STEMDRL).
The Specialist Biochemistry Manager will be responsible for the provision of all technical aspects of specialist biochemistry services provided by the North Glasgow Biochemistry Department.
This will include the organisation and management of complex and diverse areas which collectively form the Specialist service of the department.
They will work with the Technical Services Manager to ensure that the management of their areas is aligned with the overall objectives of the department and the wider organisation. The post holder will have specific responsibility for the following specialist areas:
• STEMDRL
• NHS GG&C and Regional Specialist Endocrinology Service
• NHS GG&C Gastroenterology service
• Specialist Electrophoresis service
State registration with the HCPC is mandatory for this post. Candidates must hold a MSc in biomedical science or equivalent. Experience of clinical biochemistry as a discipline and supplementary qualifications in laboratory management are desirable but not essential. It is essential that you can evidence your continuing professional development and you should have effective written, organisational, verbal and effective keyboard/IT skills.
This is a permanent post with full time hours; working hours are 08:45-1700 Mon-Fri.
