Registered General Nurse - Orthopaedics

We are recruiting to a number of Band 5 Registered General Nurse posts across the Orthopaedic directorate in the Royal Infirmary or Edinburgh. The orthopaedic directorate comprises of 2 Trauma wards, 108 & 109, and 2 Elective wards, 209 & 220.
Both 108 & 109 are busy Trauma admission wards caring for patients who have suffered trauma and who may require surgical intervention. 209 & 220 comprises of 51 beds caring for elective patients undergoing routine and complex joint replacements. Enhanced Recovery after Surgery is a key component of the care we provide. Ward 120 currently provides a Rehabilitation service for Orthopaedic patients and from April 2020 will close to make way for our new Major Trauma service, which will open in Winter 2020.
The Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh has been designated one of the four Major Trauma Centres in Scotland, representing the South East Scotland region. The network will provide all aspects of trauma care, from the point of injury to rehabilitation in the region specialising in the acute management of surgical patients following traumatic and often life changing injuries.
The successful candidate will work alongside our MDT staff delivering interventions to patients with a wide range of trauma related injuries and needs and elective orthopaedic surgery. The ability to work as part of a team is essential. Applicants should also have an understanding of rehabilitation and discharge planning.
