THE TEAM

The team is an integrated Business Intelligence and Data Warehouse team within NHS Highland's eHealth Department that serves the entire organisation with solutions related to reporting and analytical applications. Our core areas are performance reporting and dashboards, statutory reporting to the Scottish Government, as well as applications of Statistical Process Control for patient safety. The team is also involved in the response to the Covid-19 pandemic with development work that involves Covid Testing, Vaccinations and Contact Tracing.

Our data warehouse is based on Microsoft SQL Server and tools from Insource. For the Business Intelligence delivery, we are using Analysis Services, Reporting Services and Power BI from Microsoft. We are also using PowerBI and Qlik View extensively.

YOUR ROLE

As a Data Analyst you have a key role in providing the Scottish Government, Public Health Scotland and other stakeholders with timely and correct statutory reporting, data sets, statistical services from NHS Highlands data repository/data warehouse.

You will also be dealing with ad-hoc requests for information from stakeholders within NHS Highland, as well as external requests adhering to the Freedom of Information Act 2000.

Another key part of the role is to maintain and augment existing reports and data sets using SQL Server Reporting Services, Power BI or other reporting tools.

ABOUT YOU

You are able to evaluate and analyse complex and/or large data sets by using tools such as SQL as well as Excel or any of the Business Intelligence tools on the market.

You have good attention to detail and you are able to work efficiently without detailed guidance.

You are able to work proactively with data quality issues and other aspects that are relevant to improve the quality of our data and information.

You are able to discuss and explain complex data problems with both technical and non-technical counterparts.

As a Data Analyst it you possess demonstrable experiences and skills with SQL and Excel including pivot tables, PowerQuery.

Data related experience from the health care sector is desirable.
