This is an exciting opportunity to join our Clinical Skills team at a time of significant new developments in the delivery of healthcare education. We are now responding to the challenges of delivering clinical skills teaching to a further increase in healthcare students with an focus on how simulated training can prepare students for, and augment their learning from, their clinical placements.
The clinical placement team (as part of the clinical skills team) support student learning and experience across all years of the Aberdeen MBChB curriculum. In clinical and simulated environments they facilitate and deliver Clinical Skills, Infection Prevention and Control and Procedural Skills training for medical students, providing support for all students in clinical areas.
In the early years (1-3) they negotiate, co-ordinate and monitor all clinical placements, providing support to students in their transition to clinical practice. In the senior years (4-5), they support and monitor the progress of all students in their clinical blocks. Overall, this team provides unique student continuity throughout medical school i.e. they get to know the students by teaching them in early years, establish relationships with them and are often first to become aware of any need for support either through their own monitoring of clinical placements or by individual student approach. The team were commended by the GMC for their excellent practice at last visit.
