​​​​​​​We have an excellent opportunity for an organized person with kitchen management skills. Experience in large scale catering, preferably within the NHS would be advantageous but not essential as full training will be given. You should have the ability to work on your own initiative and as part of a team. Good communication skills are essential.

The main kitchen at University Hospital Crosshouse provides in excess of 1500 patients prepared and cooked meals every day, including therapeutic diets to patients, as well as meal services for the staff and the public. In addition, we cater for and provide hospitality for meetings and functions.

Your duties will include the man management of staff, responsibility for communication and direction of all staff within your area, organizing staff duty rotas to include leave, in house training. Processing Patient menu cards and the specific service of patient meals. Maintaining a high standard of hygiene, recording and monitoring data for HACCP and Environmental Health.

Cash handling, customer care, general catering duties, a degree of flexibility is essential, as you may be required to work additional hours during periods of leave.

A Basic Food Hygiene Certificate, supervisory experience, supervisory qualification i.e. NEBBS /Stepping Stones or equivalent is essential.

Shift pattern: Friday through until Thursday 7 days on, 7 days off, between thehours of 3.30pm - 9.00pm.

However, you must be available to cover all shifts within the department between the hours of 7.00am – 9.00pm, to cover leave.

All preferred candidates must attend Corporate Induction program before commencement of employment; thereafter an ongoing program of Mandatory & Statutory training.
