This role is expected to provide clinical leadership, professional development and line management of the custody nursing team. Working in collaboration with a variety of departments within NHS Highland, particularly, Emergency Department, mental health services, Scottish Ambulance Service, drug & alcohol recovery services. Partnership working with Police Scotland. Attending local and national meetings in relation to Police Custody Healthcare.
Ensure all nursing staff are aware of, and work within, NHS Highland policies and procedures to ensure that safe working practices are maintained for both patients and staff. Propose changes to policies/procedures and working practices within own area. Creating audits to gather evidence for service improvements and evaluating and presenting results. Providing clinical custody nursing cover for the rota where necessary and arranging and supporting staff training.
Utilising systems such as SSTS, Bank Rostering system, EES, Jobtrain. Completing the duty roster.
