The core purpose of the Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service is to meet the transfusion needs of patients in Scotland. In support of this, the SNBTS Tissues, Cells and Advanced Therapeutics (TCAT) Directorate is committed to a programme that will enhance the service provided to NHS Scotland in both clinical and operational areas, through the provisions of a range of tissue, cellular and advanced therapy medicinal products. SNBTS undertakes research and development which is designed to support the strategic and operational priorities of the organisation, achieve high quality and impact and add value to broader NHS and Governmental objectives.
The post:
This is an exciting opportunity to join the SNBTS TCAT Directorate as a Senior Production Scientist within TCAT. The successful candidate for this new post will be integral to the efficient running of TCAT services at the Jack Copland Centre, with specific responsibilities split between the Advanced Therapeutics and Pancreatic Islet Cell Isolation teams. Primarily working on GMP translation projects and the development and translation of new processes for the Pancreatic Islet Cell work stream but also having responsibility in the daily routine activities within the wider TCAT team.
The candidate:
The successful candidate must be educated to degree level with a relevant postgraduate qualification or equivalent competence/experience. In addition, the post holder should have experience with GMP manufacture of tissue and/or cellular therapy/ATMP/biologic products or equivalent within an academic/development setting with a desire to move to a more GMP setting.
The successful candidate will be required to undergo a Disclosure Scotland check. Any candidate who has lived/worked overseas for more than 12 months in the preceding 5 years will also be required to provide a criminal record check from the appropriate overseas agency.
