Band 6 - £33,072 - £40,736 per annum
Plus £1,117 Distant Islands Allowance per annum

The Clinical Laboratory Service of the Western Isles NHS Board is seeking an experienced Biomedical Scientist to join our small, friendly and dedicated team in the Blood Sciences Laboratory at the Western Isles Hospital, Stornoway, Isle of Lewis.
The island provides an excellent environment in which to live and work, with low pollution, low housing costs and low crime rates. The Western Isles boast amazing scenery and some of the most diverse wildlife in the UK. Outdoor pursuits are easily accessed, with hiking, surfing and cycling being popular pastimes.
The lab is equipped with Coulter DXH 800 Blood count analysers, Sysmex CA 600 Coagulometer, Roche Cobas Chemistry Analysers and a Menarini HA 8160 HPLC analyser for HB A1c. The Lab also supports a well-equipped Point of Care Laboratory on the Western Isles Hospital site and small Point of Care Labs at Benbecula and Barra.
The post holder will have experience in haematology and/or biochemistry and duties will include rotation in to blood transfusion. Participation in the blood sciences and blood transfusion weekend and on-call rota is a requirement of the post.
