This will involve a full time commitment from successful candidates to undertake academic study at Glasgow Caledonian University and in practice placement within an allocated Health and Social Care Partnership.

SCPHN Health Visiting Programme

We are recruiting students to commence the programme, full time, in September 2022 and January 2023. This is an exciting opportunity for anyone keen to pursue a career in Health Visiting and to improve outcomes for children and families.

Applications are invited from nurses and midwives - you must have a first level degree, evidence of recent CPD study and leadership development. In addition, current NMC Registration is essential.

On appointment to the programme, within NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde, the successful applicants will be trainee Health Visitors during the course, (trainee Health Visitors are currently paid as Band 7 Annexe 21*) progressing to a substantive Health Visiting post, Band 7, on successful completion of the programme and registration on Part 3 NMC Register.

Trainees will be recruited to one of six HSCP areas in GG&C and undertake their clinical training in that area, supported by a Supervisor and Assessor in the HSCP Health Visiting team. Trainees will complete consolidation in their HSCP and take up graduate Health Visiting Posts in their seconding HSCP area.

These are Inverclyde, West Dumbarton, East Dumbarton, and Renfrewshire. East Renfrewshire and Glasgow City.

Please indicate your two preference HSCP areas in your application.  (This should be clearly stated at the start of your 500 word essay in the supporting statement)

New Graduate SCPHN Health Visitors will complete a period of preceptorship in their first post as part of NMC requirements. They are therefore expected to remain in this post for a year after graduation.

In order to apply for this opportunity, please complete an NHS GG&C online application form.

Please complete the supporting statement within the Job train application form. This should be in the 1st section additional information to support application.

Please remember add at the start of the application the two areas you are applying for as you will have to consider significant travel in any post allocation.

You should discuss your application with your current line manager and please ensure that one of the two work references requested is your current line manager.

*Annex 21 explanation – Trainees will be paid 75% of Band 7 Point 8 salary for the one year course.

Trainees follow University calendar for all holidays during the course and cannot take leave out with this. This is to meet NMC 52 week training requirement.
