RAIGMORE HOSPITAL, INVERNESS

NATIONAL TREATMENT CENTRE

EYE DAY CASE UNIT

STAFF NURSES – BAND 5

Full Time (Part Time considered)

Permanent

Salary Scale £26,104 - £32,915 per annum, pro rata

We currently have vacancies within the Eye Day Case Unit (EDCU) Ward for motivated staff nurses to become part of our small dedicated team. We are currently located within Raigmore Hospital, Inverness.   However, we will be relocating to the National Treatment Centre (NTC) in late 2022.

The NTC is currently under construction and is located at the site of the University of Highlands & Islands (UHI). This will be a state of the art building, with fantastic facilities for patients and staff alike and will provide an enviable working environment.

The role will largely consist of the admission & discharge of day case patients undergoing ophthalmic surgery under local or general anaesthetic. This involves patient observations, eye scans, administering eye drops under PGD and preparing patients for theatre. Post-operative care will involve second line recovery of patients, compiling discharge paperwork and providing medication for discharge. Relevant training and support will be provided.

Successful applicants will play a vital and rewarding role in the patients' journey where tangible improvements are often observed. They will also benefit from working in an environment where the ethos is very much on support and team working.

The hours will be elective Monday to Friday, with shifts spanning the hours of 0800-1800. There will also be a requirement to start at 0730 on occasion. Therefore offering a 4 day week to full-time staff.

Interested applicants are invited to contact both Michael & Shirley with any queries and pre-application visits are encouraged. This will allow applicants to experience the working environment and meet the team prior to applying.

Informal enquiries to: michael.raich@nhs.scot Senior Charge Practitioner or shirley.fraser7@nhs.scot  Senior Nurse
