An opportunity has arisen for a Specialist Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist to join the children’s therapist team in Wheelchair & Seating Service at the SMART (Southeast Mobility and Rehabilitation Technology) Centre, Astley Ainslie Hospital, Edinburgh. The SMART Centre (www.smart.scot.nhs.uk) provides highly specialised clinical rehabilitation technology services across the southeast of Scotland.

The post holder will provide patient-focused assessment and prescription of manual and powered wheelchairs and postural supports utilising specialist levels of decision making and clinical judgement to maximise function and independence with appropriate pressure relief and management. Knowledge of wheelchairs and seating would be an advantage but training will be provided if required.

The post holder will provide advice, education and training to other members of the multi-disciplinary team, external healthcare professionals, other agencies, carers, clients and relatives. The post holder will participate in quality management and improvement activities within the service.

The advert is for a fixed term or secondment of 6 months 22.5hrs per week
