The Non Medicines Effective Prescribing programme provides support for the implementation of safe effective and evidence based practice in the use of non-medicines eg. Stoma, wounds & urinary products.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Prescribing Support Nurse to help improve the use of non-medicines products in Primary Care.  We are seeking an experienced individual to work with nursing and pharmacy teams to be involved in a range of areas with a particular focus on supporting PECOS ordering for non-medicine products within NHS Ayrshire & Arran.  You will work closely with specialist nurses in related fields, the primary care nursing directorate, and individual nursing teams as well as completing patient facings reviews.

You will have the ability to work on your own against set objectives while frequently interacting with others. You will have excellent clinical knowledge, critical appraisal and communication skills to be able to work effectively as an integral part of the multi-disciplinary team. It is essential that you are a registered practitioner with the NMC. A post graduate qualification (or demonstrate equivalent level of knowledge) and ability to deliver clinical or service improvements are essential. A driving licence and access to a car is essential.

Hours: 37.5 per week but consideration will also be given for applications for reduced hours. Candidates should express their preferred number of days per week in their supporting statement when applying.
