An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Anaesthetic service at NHS Golden Jubilee for an enthusiastic, experienced Anaesthesia Associate to lead on the development of the Anaesthetic Associate service. Good leadership, interpersonal and multidisciplinary team working skills are essential in this role. The successful candidate will lead a new cohort of Anaesthesia Associates within Orthopaedics and General anaesthesia with the support from Consultant Anaesthetists and contribute to the strategic development of Anaesthetic Associates and Non-medical supporting roles in Anaesthesiology.
The anaesthetic service provides delivery of anaesthesia and perioperative care to an established orthopaedic and day surgery general surgery service. An in house colorectal service which includes major robotic colorectal procedures has recently been established and there are opportunities to be involved in developing this service. The Pre-assessment clinic reviews a high volume of patients and there will be opportunities to develop the Anaesthesia Associate role within the clinic. The anaesthetic team also provides a PICC line and pain service for the entire hospital and there is potential for development of extended Anaesthesia Associate roles within these areas.
The phase 2 theatres expansion is scheduled to open in 2023 and will provide an additional 5 orthopaedic theatres which will lead to exciting opportunities to further develop the Anaesthesia Associate role in a high volume surgical centre.
The NHS Jubilee Hospital also contains the NHS Scotland Academy and therefore there may be potential to be involved in teaching and training of perioperative staff attending courses and training days in the Academy.
The Jubilee is well connected to Glasgow City centre and is close to transport links to the airport. It is also minutes away from the beautiful Loch Lomond National Park.
