Applications are invited for the post of Assistant Director of Finance for NHS Grampian.
Located in the North East of Scotland, Grampian is an affluent, friendly and vibrant area, combining all the amenities of Aberdeen with quick, easy access to its beautiful surrounding countryside and coastline.
NHS Grampian is the fourth largest Health Board in Scotland and provides acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services. With a workforce of around 17,000 staff we deliver healthcare to a population of 600,000 people plus providing specialist regional and national services. Our revenue budget is £1.4 billion with an annual capital programme of £65 million and Endowment Funds of £49 million.
The post is being advertised at an exciting time for NHS Grampian with so many recent and planned developments including the Baird Family Hospital & Anchor Centre and the new National Treatment Centre - Grampian. We are also about to launch “Our Plan For The Future” which will set out how we will deliver better health and healthcare outcomes for our population in the years to come..
This replacement post will have responsibility for leading several key functions within the Finance Directorate including all Financial Accounting, regulatory and statutory financial reporting, accounts payable, accounts receivable and treasury services. The post holder will lead on all financial governance matters and overseeing the provision of the internal and external audit services, including the annual external audit and final accounts process. The role also includes responsibility for the management of the Board’s Endowment Fund Charity and leading the financial element of the Boards Capital and Infrastructure Programme.
This high profile and challenging role will operate in a complex, dynamic and high profile environment. As a key member of the Finance Department’s Senior Management Team, you will be a primary point of interface with the Board’s Executive and Corporate Directors, Board Committees, Non-Executive Directors and senior clinical and non-clinical staff. A key priority will be providing expert strategic and financial guidance on a wide range of matters and it is therefore essential that candidates can evidence a track record of communicating with, advising and influencing non-finance senior colleagues across a large and complex multisite organisation.
Reporting to and working closely with the Director of Finance you will play a key role building on an already recognised high performing finance function to ensure that it continues to add value to the delivery of financial sustainability for the Board and at the same time find improved ways in which our finance teams can operate efficiently and effectively within the operational accountability for the role.
We are seeking to appoint an engaging and inspiring leader who, can challenge conventional thinking, embrace change and have a genuine desire to continuously improve financial performance. We are looking for a candidate who will bring experience of developing and implementing financial strategy, leading transformation and change, excellent people management skills and the ability to work in partnership with internal and external stakeholders.
You will be a qualified accountant (CCAB, CIMA or equivalent) and have a track record of delivery in a senior finance manager role in a healthcare or equivalent complex organisation within the public or private sector. An understanding of current developments in NHS Scotland health and social care is desirable.
