Clinical Fellow in GENERAL MEDICINE

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Medical Unit, Vale of Leven Hospital, Alexandria. This post is available from 3rd August 2022 for a period of 1 year in the first instance. This post would be ideal for those preparing for MRCP (UK) or those wishing to gain further general medical experience prior to General Practice training.

We will encourage and support a Clinical Fellow who wishes to develop a specialist interest in Care of the Elderly or a General Internal Medicine Subspecialty. Dedicated time will be job planned for the candidate to undertake supporting professional activities that develop their potential as a doctor. To practice medicine in the UK you need to hold both GMC registration and a licence to practice.

​​​​​​​The Vale of Leven Hospital (VoL) is situated in , an area of outstanding natural beauty and serving a population in excess of 88,000 largely from Dumbarton, and Helensburgh. The Vale of Leven Hospital has undergone a period of re-configuration following the conclusion of NHS Greater Glasgow and ’s consultation on the vision for the Vale of Leven Hospital and acceptance of the recommendations in February 2009. This vision includes the retention of unscheduled medical care at the Vale of Leven Hospital, led by the Consultant Physician team based at the Royal Alexandra Hospital (RAH) and supported by Integrated Care GP’s (ICGPs). In addition there will be in-patient medicine for the elderly beds, short stay surgical beds together with day surgery and a full range of diagnostic and support services. Out patient services provide clinics and ambulatory services for a wide range of medical, surgical and specialty clinics.
