We are looking for a Senior Registered Nurse first level (Adult) to join our surgical ward team at the Lorn and Islands Hospital Oban. Ward A is a very busy unit comprising of a 14 bedded inpatient ward receiving 24 hours daily and a 6 bedded Day Bed Unit receiving both elective and emergency admissions.
The day bed unit is operational Monday to Friday for people attending for both general surgery and endoscopy procedures.
The successful applicant will work within the ward and day bed unit rotating between both day and night duty and be flexible to the needs of the service.
As part of a multidisciplinary team the post holder will have responsibility for assessment of care needs and evaluation of programmes of care ensuring the delivery of high quality care to patients. In the absence of the ward manager the post holder will have continuing responsibility for the management of the ward including supervision and deployment of staff.
Applicants should have a minimum 3 years experience at Band 5, in a general surgical ward or acute care. Applicants must be able to demonstrate the ability to assess, plan and implement care for surgical patients.
Applicants should also have good communication and interpersonal skills and work well within a team.
