Are you interested in a career as a Pharmacy Technician?

Pharmacy Technicians are registered professions who are vital members of both the pharmacy and NHS Healthcare team whether in hospitals, community pharmacies or GP practices. The role of the Pharmacy Technician is becoming more varied and complex as medicines become increasingly sophisticated and the role of the pharmacist evolves. As a result of this, the aim of our training programme is to deliver pharmacy technicians who have the necessary skills and knowledge to practice in a 21st century NHS.

A comprehensive list of all duties and responsibilities is given in the full job description. You can find out more about this role at: https://www.careers.nhs.scot/careers/explore-our-careers/pharmacy/pharmacy-technician/

We’re looking to recruit a motivated and committed Trainee Pharmacy Technician(s) to undertake a 2 year Technical Apprenticeship programme during which you will work towards the Diploma in Pharmacy Services. This will include completing the PDA in Pharmacy Services (SCQF 7) and SVQ in Pharmacy Services (SCQF 8) while developing your knowledge skills within our pharmacy team.

These are fixed term, full time training posts for 2 years and you will work and learn with primary care and community pharmacy teams (rotating between these sectors). One day per week is protected study time for virtual college attendance, but to complete this course candidates will be required to undertake some study in their own time.

On completion of the programme, you will be eligible to register with the General Pharmaceutical Council as a Pharmacy Technician and progress into a range of opportunities within the profession.

To apply for this post applicants must meet the following criteria:

- National 5 qualifications at Grade A, B or C (or equivalent SCQF Level 5) in Chemistry, Biology, Maths and English / ESOL

or

- completion of the Access to Pharmacy Services (SCQF level 5), NC in Pharmacy Services or NC in Applied Sciences

Please make sure you include all of your qualifications in your application.

In addition to academic qualifications we are looking for applicants who can evidence an enthusiasm for learning and development, a professional attitude and a passion for working within the wider healthcare care team.
