Diploma in Paramedic Practice: Programme Team Vacancies
Programme Team Vacancies: Associate Lecturers
Secondment Period: 6 month
Closing Date: Sunday 10th July, 2022
After 11 years of collaboration between the Scottish Ambulance Service (SAS) and Glasgow Caledonian University (GCU), the Diploma in Higher Education in Paramedic Practice (Dip HE) has entered the final year of delivery. Successful candidates are afforded a secondment opportunity to join the Programme Team. As part of the Programme Team, you will join as an ‘Associate Lecturer’ based at the Scottish Ambulance Academy (SAA), within the School of Health and Life Sciences, at Glasgow Caledonian University.
You will be joining a busy and enthusiast student-centred team with an existing culture of hard work, flexibility and support for each other. You will also possess the attributes which will allow you to transition quickly into this environment and thrive on the challenges presented.
The Scottish Ambulance Academy will be focused mainly on the delivery of the Part 2 modules: Clinical Skills (CS), and Patient Assessment and Management (PA) over this secondment period. As a result, having an understanding of these modules, though not essential, is desirable. Some of the current associate lecturing team, as well as some of our programme practice placement education team, have previously come through this programme as students. Both teams work closely together and this past experience has provided a strong starting foundation as a new team member.
With the secondment period being 6 months, this previous knowledge and experience has proven beneficial to adapting quickly within this fast-paced environment. It also afforded a unique understanding and insight into the student perspective, enhancing our student-centred approach within both teams. Therefore, previous students completing this programme to a high standard, particularly modules CS and PA, are encouraged to apply where other essential criteria is met.
Programme team members are part of the wider SAS Education and Professional Development team and, as such, may also have the opportunity to be involved in the support of wider EPDD programmes and activities.
It is essential that applicants are:
HCPC registered Paramedics (with appropriate post registration experience)
Mentors with a clear enthusiasm for supporting and developing students
Educated to degree level, or working toward this.
It is desirable that applicants have achieved on Part 2 of this programme.
Previous applicants are asked not to apply unless invited to do so after discussion with the Programme Lead.
