Applications are invited for the above position, which combines Acute General (Internal) Medicine in Perth Royal Infirmary with Diabetes and Endocrinology. This is a replacement post. Successful applicants will join our specialist team in Perth Royal Infirmary, which includes specialist diabetes nurses, dieticians, podiatrists, general practitioners and our clinical investigation unit. We provide young adult, antenatal and renal diabetes services as well as general endocrinology. In addition, successful applicants will join a pan-Tayside team of diabetes and endocrinology Consultants (7 NHS Tayside, 4 University of Dundee). Our University team are internationally renowned in fields of hypoglycaemia, pharmacoepidemiology and neuroendocrine genetics.
Perth Royal Infirmary has a 1 in 12 Acute Medical Receiving rota which includes weekend and overnight on-call. In addition, the successful applicant will take part in postgraduate training and education along with opportunities to collaborate in research, and quality improvement.
The successful applicants will contribute to inpatient General Internal Medicine inpatients in Perth Royal Infirmary delivered as 2 weeks G(I)M 'hot' block followed by 4 weeks dedicated to specialty.
Candidates should possess MRCP and be on the GMC Specialist Register in General Internal Medicine and Diabetes and Endocrinology or be within 6 months of the anticipated award of CCT or CESR (CP) at the time of interview for the post.
