Applications are invited for a full-time, permanent Band 7 LIMS/IT manager post in the NHS Grampian Laboratory Directorate. This post will be primarily to develop and implement a new LIMS system within Laboratory Genetics. In addition, the post holder will provide support to the directorate Laboratory Computer Manager in maintaining and updating the Laboratory Medicine Clinical Unit’s IM&T system to ensure it can meet the operational, business, quality management and audit IT requirements as required by NHS Grampian
The successful individual will work closely with the Laboratories IT and eHealth teams in the development stages of the LIMS project, interfacing aspects of the LIMS with existing NHS portals, and with Genetics staff in the specific configuration of the system for use in the Genetics Laboratories. The individual will be jointly line managed by Heads of Laboratory Genetics and Laboratory IT.
Experience and qualifications
Applicants should possess an appropriate Master’s degree, or degree equivalent, or be able to demonstrate relevant specialist knowledge to an equivalent level.
Knowledge of operational diagnostic Medical Laboratory Technology and of relevant Information Technology is also required. This will require an in depth specialist knowledge of genetics/laboratory or IM&T procedures. A good working knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server and enterprise database technologies is also desirable.
There will be considerable interaction with staff in a range of laboratory disciplines, eHealth and other health board IT departments.
