NHS Scotland is committed to encouraging equality and diversity among our workforce and eliminating unlawful discrimination. The aim is for our workforce to be truly representative and for each employee to feel respected and able to give their best. To this end, NHS Scotland welcomes applications from all sections of society.

Post:  Locum Appointment for Training (LAT / Clinical Fellow in ENT

(to cover Maternity Leave)

An opportunity has arisen within NHS Lanarkshire based at University Hospital Monklands  commencing on 3rd August 2022.

A LAT appointment is recognised for training purposes, a Clinical Fellow post will not attract training recognition.   However the decision to award training recognition to any given post has to be determined by the interview panel based on an assessment of applicants’ experience.

There may be a possibility to extend the LAT appointment at the end of the 6 month post.  The extension may be at any of the hospitals on the rotation. If appointed to a relevant Specialty Training Programme through open competition, documented competencies achieved through a LAT can count towards CCT, or towards a CESR application for those not entering an approved Specialty Training Programme.

The post will offer excellent experience in ENT and previous post holders have been successful in obtaining ENT training posts.  The successful applicant will be expected to contribute to the middle grade ENT rota (non resident oncall rota). NHS Lanarkshire is constantly reviewing its rotas to maintain New Deal compliance together with the new arrangements as set down by the Scottish Government and Scottish Medical Training (SMT).  Rotas therefore, may be subject to change.

NHS Lanarkshire has excellent post-graduate libraries and IT facilities.
