Applications are welcome for the above Permanent, full time (40 hours per week) post based in the Royal Edinburgh Hospital.
This post is a substantive community based post, principally dedicated to the out-patient memory clinic, the Memory Assessment and Treatment Service (MATS). This is a new and additional post to complement existing consultant sessions in MATS. It has arisen due to additional funding to support and enhance service delivery by MATS.
MATS has close links with post diagnostic support service providers in Edinburgh. Plans are advanced to appoint additional post diagnostic support workers to keep pace with demographic changes.
All patients referred to MATS have a comprehensive initial assessment undertaken by nursing staff. Patients are then reviewed by medical staff to provide a diagnostic formulation and management plan. Follow up of patients, including monitoring of specific drug treatment for dementia, is primarily done by nursing staff.
There is ready access to a comprehensive neuroradiology service and neuropsychology assessment.
