Regent House's Public Protection Team is looking for 1 full-time Child Protection Advisor.
To work collaboratively with the Head of Child & Adult Protection, Professional Lead for Child Protection and with partner agencies to develop a high-quality child protection service, in line with national guidance, contributing to the strategic planning and development relating to Child Protection.
Implement Child Protection Case Supervision for identified staff groups.
Provide higher specialist advice in relation to the case management of vulnerable children including those in need of protection.
Contribute towards the development and implementation of support systems and training for practitioners within NHS Lanarkshire.
To work in partnership with member agencies of Child Protection Committee Sub Groups/Task Groups and be active in maintaining and further developing professional links with other local and national organisations.
To fully contribute to multi-agency Initial Referral Discussions.
Essential Professional Qualifications:
Registered General Nurse/Registered Midwife
Post-registration experience working with children and families e.g. within CAMHS, Paediatric Nursing, Accident and Emergency Care, Midwifery or Health Visiting
Experience working with children & and families within the sphere of child welfare/child protection
Professional Qualifications desirable:
Registered Health Visitor/SPQ Public Health Nursing
Essential Academic Qualifications:
First-level Degree
Post Graduate Certificate in Child Protection (Master’s certificate level =Scottish Certificate Qualification Framework level 11)
Educated to/working towards/operating at Masters level - the term "operating at" degree/masters level corresponds to possessing an equivalent level of knowledge gained through experience
The post holder should have the following skills, knowledge and ability:
Ongoing training/education in Child Protection related issues
Experience in effective, excellent Team Work/Partnership working with a range of multi-professional groups in NHS Lanarkshire and Partner Agencies
Excellent, effective communication skills, both oral and written
Leadership skills – evidence of clinical leadership
Presentation skills - Understanding and competence in the use of training and education methods
Experience in developing clinical pathways, guidelines and outcome measures
Experience in prioritising numerous concurrent issues
Implement evidence-based practice
Ability to critically appraise research literature for application to practice
Ability to analyse complex information to make professional decisions
Developed expertise in own field
Ability to work well under pressure
Evidence of Continuous Professional Development
Evidence of personal contribution to and leading service planning and redesign projects
Knowledge of the principles of facilitation, supervision, audit and research.
Additional extension of skills as deemed essential for the post.
Valid current driving licence
