Consultant in ENT with a Specialist Interest in Cochlear Implantation - Locum Appointment
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our ENT team in NHS Ayrshire & Arran, as we are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic ENT Consultant with an interest in Cochlear Implantation surgery to work alongside a team of 6 other ENT consultants and two speciality doctors. The caseload comprises both adult and paediatric surgery.
Adult and Paediatric emergency and elective ENT services are provided to the Ayrshire & Arran which has a catchment population of 388,000 residents with the department providing the National Cochlear Implant Service for Scotland.
This post is based at University Hospital, Crosshouse. The successful candidate will complement the team of five ENT Surgeons, three Consultants in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, two Consultants in Orthodontics, and two part-time consultants in Restorative Dentistry who make up the Head and Neck Directorate.
The Directorate actively supports undergraduate and postgraduate medical education.
The main base for this post is University Hospital Crosshouse where ENT in-patient and day case services are located. Out-patient Clinics are provided at University Hospital Crosshouse & University Hospital Ayr. Since the onset of Covid-19 alternative ways of managing patients have been employed and we have developed particularly successful audiology assessment pathways. Specialist clinics include neck lump, head and neck oncology, voice, paediatric hearing assessment clinic, cochlear and bone-anchored and middle ear implant clinics.
The Terms and Conditions of service are those determined by the New Consultant Contract (Scotland) 2004 and are offered on a 10 programmed activity basis. Applications from individuals who may wish to work less programmed activities may apply. On call will be on a 1:6 rota.
Appropriately experienced applicants must have Full GMC Registration with a current Licence to Practice.
This is a full time post, however part time applicants will also be considered.
