BAND 4

The well-established Advanced Nurse Practitioner service in Raigmore Hospital is recruiting. The service provides high quality, safe and effective clinical and emergency care in association with medical and nursing colleagues across acute adult services within Raigmore Hospital, Inverness.

Following the successful introduction of the medical Assistant Practitioner role in 2019 we are now looking to expand this team and seeking applications from experienced healthcare workers who have worked in an acute hospital environment and can evidence ongoing learning and development. The job will be physically and emotionally demanding as the post-holder will provide clinical and administrative support to Medical and Nursing staff and undertake a range of clinical and non-clinical duties. Registered healthcare staff will delegate roles and tasks and you must have the ability to work independently and with supervision. You will carry out minor clinical procedures such as venepuncture, cannulation and catheterisation, assist with medical procedures and provide assistance to medical emergency and cardiac arrest teams.

You will be required to work in and out of hours, which may include days, evening and weekends.

Applicants must have a minimum standard grade pass (or equivalent) in English and two other national grade passes. In addition, you must have good communication skills and a very good command of both written and spoken English.

Assistant Practitioners are required to have completed a relevant qualification at SCQF level 7-8 or above, examples of common qualifications include Higher National Certificate/ Diploma (HNC/D) or  Professional Development Award (PDA) at Level 8.

Candidates not in receipt of the above qualifications would be considered for a Trainee Assistant Practitioner post and will require to undertake a specified training programme to achieve a relevant qualification at SCQF level 7-8. Post holder will be supported by a practice development nurse and aligned to NHSH and NES HCSW competency frameworks.
