An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, motivated and experienced Consultant Radiologist to lead the NHS Golden Jubilee Radiology Service.
NHS GJ provides essential waiting times imaging for all Health Boards in NHS Scotland, along with specialist imaging services as the West of Scotland Cardiothoracic Centre and supports the NHS Golden Jubilee site by providing in-patient imaging. It is also the host of the Scottish National Radiology Reporting Service (SNRRS).
The Clinical Director (CD) will play a key role in the development and operational delivery of our services, as part of a leadership triumvirate with the Service Manager and the Director of Operations for Heart, Lung and Diagnostics. The role is broad-ranging, and the responsibilities are divided into five main areas:
- Clinical Governance
- Operational Effectiveness
- Strategic Development
- People Management
- Patient Centeredness
It is expected that the CD will engage the whole team in these responsibilities, and delegate aspects of the role to others, but will maintain overall responsibility and accountability.
You will be required to work as part of a multidisciplinary team within the innovative Cardio-Thoracic services such as Scottish Adult Congenital Cardiac Service (SACCS), Scottish Pulmonary Vascular Unit (SPVU), Scottish National Acute Heart Failure Service (SNAFS), and the Trans catheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI) service. An expanding orthopaedic department and developing colorectal service will provide new opportunities for the imaging department. The CD will have an integral role on ow these imaging services develop. NHS Golden Jubilee has a centre of excellence and innovation which leads to exciting research opportunities for the department.
There are plans being developed for 5 over 7 day working to maximise the capacity within the site to assist health boards with the post pandemic challenges. The post holder will be instrumental in supporting the staff groups. The type of services delivered can vary in order to best support the health boards and internal pathways on NHS GJ site. The CD will work with the senior management team to shape the future of the department. NHS GJ host the Scottish National Radiology Reporting Service (SNRRS) and the post holder will be instrumental in contributing to the future service developments.

This post requires the post holder to have a PVG Scheme membership/ record. If the post holder is not a current PVG member for the required regulatory group (i.e. child and/or adult) then an application will need to be made to Disclosure Scotland and deemed satisfactory before they can begin in post.
