(SPECIALIST OR NON-SPECIALIST)
Band 5 or 6 (depending on experience)

Full-time, Permanent

Salary scales:  Band 5: £26,104 - £32,915
                        Band 6: £33,072 - £40,736

Ideally we require a HCPC registered Specialist Biomedical Scientist to join our friendly, dedicated and professional team providing a high quality Cellular Pathology service for NHS Highland. However, candidates that have not yet obtained but are working towards the IBMS Specialist Diploma will be considered. As an absolute minimum candidates must be HCPC registered and must have completed the IBMS Registration Portfolio/Certificate of Competence.  The post is based at Raigmore Hospital, Inverness.

The department is well-equipped, and offers experience in all aspects of routine histology, including diagnostic non-gynaecological cytology, frozen sections and immunohistochemistry using the Leica Bond III system. This role will include specimen dissection, renal biopsy collection and Andrology.  The work is also of high complexity due to the unique location of the hospital handling specimens from a very wide geographic area including the Western Isles. The department handles over 17,000 requests per annum and 24,000 specimens. The busy immunocytochemistry section handles over 16,000 requests per annum using a wide range of antibodies.

For potential applicants that may be looking for a change of lifestyle, The Highlands offers the ultimate countryside lifestyle as from Inverness there is easy access to both the Cairngorms and the West Coast of Scotland and the North Coast 500 that is proving very popular due to the outstanding scenery and beautiful sandy beaches along this route.
