NHS Ayrshire and Arran is delighted to be able to offer an exciting opportunity for development.  This post will be for 2 years on a development basis.

You will provide clinical and managerial leadership and is responsible for the operational management and standard of care in the following departments/Services: 


•    Community Integrated Midwifery Care including 10 Best Start teams
•    Midwifery Suite 
•    Safeguarding Team
•    Birth Reflections and VBAC Services
•    Holistic Clinic Services
•    Hypnobirthing Services

Roles and Responsibilities

•    Provide professional and clinical leadership to Nurses and Midwives through Provision of expert professional clinical advice as a member of the Directorate Team and demonstrating professional clinical expertise through hands on practice of direct patient care within your relevant sphere of practice.
•    Monitoring and analysing performance/ attendance issues to ensure organisational policies are consistently and fairly applied in line with future departmental requirements
•    Initiate the recruitment process by analysing workforce establishments, identifying vacancies and reviewing and updating job descriptions
•    Conduct performance appraisal, mentoring, assessing and designing personal development plans for your direct line management group
•    Initiate and participate in first level incident investigations  Involvement in disciplinary and investigations
•    Influence long term strategic plans1-3 years

Qualifications and Skills

•    Registered Midwife with appropriate managerial experience preferably as part of current role.
•    Experience of working within the NHS Ayrshire and Arran Adverse event framework including SAER participation.
•    Leadership skills with proven ability in working across professional boundaries
•    Ability to work to deadlines
•    Ability to motivate staff
•    Required to have excellent communication skills to enable to motivate staff internal and external to the Organisation.


Please note this is a fixed-term/secondment opportunity for 2 years.
