We are looking for an enthusiastic Healthcare professional with extensive experience who understands the changing needs and can represent the Cellular Pathology service going forward. This is a senior management role within Diagnostic Services and you will be expected to manage all aspects of the day to day laboratory operations, staffing, contracting and finances.
As Pathology Manager – Head of Service you will oversee the operational management and development of the diagnostic services for Histopathology, Cytology, Immunocytochemistry and Mortuary Services across the whole of NHS Ayrshire & Arran.
You will advise the general manager and clinical lead on service improvement, manage highly specialist investigations and be responsible for the standard and quality of results for the service.
You will also provide expert advice, coordinate training of the scientific staff, maintain and promote the professional image of the Pathology department.
You must be HCPC registered, qualified to MSc level or equivalent, with extensive experience of managing a laboratory or as a Section Manager/Chief Biomedical Scientist with highly developed specialist knowledge and skills from working in Cellular Pathology.
You will also need to have well developed communication, teamwork, effective staff management, leadership skills and a formal post graduate management qualification or equivalent experience.
You will need to be highly organised and have experience of Quality Management Systems and change management. An ability to recognise and implement quality, efficiency and productivity opportunities to enable service change and development, together with experience of financial /budgetary management would also be desirable for this role.
