About the Organisation:
National Services Scotland (NSS) is a national NHS Board operating right at the heart of NHSScotland (NHSS) providing support and advice at a strategic and operational level. NSS supports NHSS to deliver their services more efficiently and effectively and we offer shared services on a national scale using best-in-class systems and standards. Our priority is always the same – to improve the health and well-being of the people of Scotland. We do this by working in partnership with colleagues across Health and Social Care to deliver high quality, fit for purpose solutions, systems, and services that help our stakeholders free up resources that can be re-invested into essential services.
NHSS Assure’s core purpose is to deliver and co-ordinate a diverse range of effective expert advice and support services in relation to national infection prevention control, construction, equipping and technical matters which support and improve health and well-being services. Formed in 2021 it encompasses the previous services delivered by Health Facilities Scotland (HFS) and ARHAI Scotland, supplementing these with an integrated approach to improving quality in the healthcare environment and recognised as the Centre of Expertise across all related disciplines.

The Posts:
As part of the continued development of NHSS Assure, we are looking for a Project Manager to help support the Architecture and Design team within HFS and the Programme Management Office (PMO).

Architecture and Design team
This is a highly professional, senior and autonomous team comprising Architects, National Fire Safety Advisors and a Structural Engineer, and will be complemented by this role  as we continue to develop our new range of services and enhance existing services as part of the development of NHSS Assure. The team is responsible for the NHSS Design Assessment Process (NDAP), it’s implementation and development, as well as providing subject matter expert advice for Key Stage Assurance Reviews (KSAR). The team is also responsible for all relevant HFS guidance documentation, including its development and revision as well as any associated research streams.

Programme Management Office
This role will support the delivery of an effective management and control mechanism for creation, approval and delivery of change projects across NSS NHSScotland Assure. The PMO supports the wider NHSScotland Assure services as part of a multi-disciplinary team, collaborating with a wide range of stakeholders across NHS Scotland and the independent sector, to deliver services designed to ensure patient safety within the healthcare built environment.

The Candidate:
The successful candidate will be placed into one of the teams outlined above. If you prefer to be considered for a specific team, you should make this known at interview.

We are looking for an experienced and qualified professional who will be responsible for supporting the Architecture and Design Team in project managing, planning, organising, co-ordinating, and the continual development of, a number of nationally important workstreams and initiatives. The role offers a unique opportunity for a construction professional or an experienced project manager.
The successful applicant will have in depth experience of process and project management as well as a good understanding of the construction/design process and its technical requirements. Candidates should have an understanding of the healthcare environment and the role and work of HFS and Property and Capital Planning, as well as an awareness of the issues involved in providing assurance and compliance on healthcare projects, a key priority for NHSS Assure.
The post holder will be expected to work with other professionals and subject matter experts within Property and Capital Planning and Engineering, Environment and Decontamination. The post holder will also work with colleagues from other areas of NHSS Assure / HFS including Infection Control, FM, and Business Support.
